Literature Study

Sound energy
We started with reading a book on Sound energy and listed down different sources of sound around us. This was followed by watching an experiment. Before we began, Ms. Chetna guided us to write our observations - before, during, and after the experiment. We are gradually working on our writing skills, hence it takes time for us. We paused at intervals to observe the progression of the experiment and note it down. the experiment got all of us excited and we wanted to try, so we did. Unfortunately, it didn't work as was presented in the video. This was a good opportunity for us to examine the materials and the process. Students could evaluate the reasons. We identified the scientific principle it was based on - the vibrations caused by sound can break a glass of a specific density.

Writing session
The children developed the skill of making hypotheses & writing the findings after experimenting. We discussed some experiments and wrote our hypotheses about the same Ms. Elizabeth went to each station to clarify how to organize their writing. Later we did the experiments to find the results.

Literature Circle
Students were introduced to the idea of a literature circle. Ms. Chetna had brought some sets of books for the students to explore and choose from. They went around and skimmed through the books before deciding the one they wanted to work with. Based on the choices the groups were made and students started reading. We will start with the follow-up activities in the next session.

Student research
many of us were ready with the experiments they wanted to present to the class. These sessions provide the students with a good opportunity to express and develop leadership skills. They also get a chance to reflect if they are working in the right direction and can connect with the concepts being discussed in class.

Light energy
Today we started with researching by reading in two groups. Ms. Chetna divided us into two groups based on our reading abilities and gave us the books accordingly. After reading and discussing within our own groups, we shared our learnings with the other group. Next to that, we watched a slide presentation, trying to understand different sources of light. We listed down different sources of light in our notebooks.

Guided reading
Students read the ORT books in their groups. After reading activities were based on comprehension and vocabulary building.

Literature study
Today we shared the Reading Response Bingo with the students. Ms. Chetna explained the engagements and strategies mentioned. Students could choose from the set which every they would like to do after each chapter or book.

Self-management skills
Students could choose the board games they wanted to play. It was a good opportunity for them to work on self-management skills by appreciating each other's points of view while choosing the game and playing in groups.
