A good system shortens the road to the goal. - Orison Swett Marden
Morning meeting
Students shared how their weekend was by adding a word to describe it in the chatbox. It was amazing to see children working on their word choice and using synonyms for commonly used words.
Dr. Long's message
Today's message guided us to think of a peaceful way to resolve any conflict. We used this as a provocation to discuss the concept systems. Students shared their thoughts on how does this message reach us. We could easily conclude that there is a system followed every week to send these messages to the students.
Systems
Students annotated the whiteboard to share their thoughts about the 'system'. We could identify that they had mentioned some systems connected to tangible things like music systems, computer systems, and some systems that could not be touched like the railway system. The confusion started when someone mentioned the school system where we have learned in the previous weeks that school is a community. We will research to find out more about this. To check the exact meaning we looked into the online dictionary. Ms. Chetna shared the unit matrix to reveal the 3rd line of inquiry of this unit. Discussing it we realized that systems support communities. Now we need to choose any community and find out the systems that support it.
Traits of writing: Word choice
Ms. Chetna shared the link to a story. Students who wanted to listen to it individually went to breakout room 1 and the rest of us listen to it together, While listening we had to identify the wow words and add them to the Jamboard, the link to which was shared in the chat. We got to know many new words and chose one of those for word inquiry. Many students struggle to make new words using the letters given. We decided to do this more often.
Recap subtraction
Ms. Laila was ready with a new tool 'Nearpod'. She shared the link in the chat for the ones who were confident to do the lesson on their own. The rest of us worked in the main session to clarify our doubts simultaneously. This lesson helped us recap place value, subtraction with and without regrouping, and representation through base 10 blocks.
Hello! Rishaan enjoyed the story and was able to understand the concept of system. He was able to work on subtraction in the nearpod. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteKiarash enjoyed the story presented in Dr. Long's message. He understood little about system. In Hindi he learnt about punctuation marks. Thanks
