“A map is the greatest of all epic poems. Its lines and colors show the realization of great dreams.” ― Gilbert H. Grosvenor
Morning meeting
The day started with students sharing their excitement for offline school tomorrow. Ms. Chetna reminded us of the essentials we need to carry with us, as some of us had missed getting those last time. All of us must carry a water bottle, snack box, two masks, an extra set of clothes, an apron / a large size T-shirt, and a cap. Please remember to carry the library book to be returned, in case you missed that last week.
Defense community
Ms. Chetna shared a short video by Mr. Suresh Emandi. He is the security in charge of the academy. Through the video, we got to know that he was army personnel before joining the academy. He fought for the country during the Kargil war. He spoke about the disciplined life they have to lead when in defense and how they serve the countrymen even during natural calamities.
The systems within the school community
Ms. Chetna shared the link to a Padlet. We had to identify the people by looking at the pictures and post our thoughts about their role in the academy. This learning engagement helped us discuss different responsibilities people have in the academy and how their contribution helps in the smooth functioning of the school community.
Reading a map
Ms. Chetna shared an image. The students had to study the image and share what they thought it was by posting it in the chatbox. Students could identify it as a plan for a room or a place. Through discussions, we could come to the term 'map'. Next, we watched a video to learn how to create a map of our room and add a key/ legend for others to be able to read it. Students drew a map of the room they were sitting in. Ms. Chetna guided us to carefully monitor the route from their home to the academy tomorrow so that we can create a route map.
Kiarash enjoyed Mr. Suresh Emandi video and was happy to see him personally in academy. Kiarash was able to write school community members name in padlet. He was able to draw the map to some extent. Thank you.
